J.E.Marsh & Sons Collection

Joseph Edward Marsh, born 1883, was a local press photographer who worked in the Liverpool area for the Daily Post, Liverpool Echo, and freelance. He covered, along with his sons Stuart Hardy Marsh and Lesley John Marsh, historic local events including the second world war, Gandhi’s visit to Lancashire in the 1930s, and a Royal visit by King George VI in the 1940s.

Carefully Edited, Restored & Printed

Selected and edited by our Real Camera team, scanned and digitally restored by hand, then printed and finished by Come Through Lab, Manchester.

Local History, Locally Restored

Thanks to Ian Marsh, grandson of J.E Marsh, The Real Camera Co were able to acquire a small collection of the family’s work in 2022. The many glass and cellulose negatives were then carefully scanned, digitally restored, and printed. Now we are delighted to exhibit a selection of photographs in our local shop and gallery, as well as offer prints to the public.
